Shane was a stalwart on the Buffalo Bills defense during the Super Bowl years. He was voted to the Pro Bowl 3 times during his 6 year stint with the Bills. Both Shane and Paul graduated from Penn State University commonly known as "Linebacker U". Both players earned All-American honors while Paul was a two time recipient of the Bednarik Award as the nation's top defensive player and the second Nittany Lion to win the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker. Shane led the defensive unit that held every opponent to 19 points or less to fuel Penn State's 1986 National Championship. After the 2004 season Paul changed his number from 35 to 31 in reverence to Shane.
